JavaScripts Tips

What Is JavaScript ? It Is A Scripting Language That Is Used In Conjunction With HTML, Simply A Programming Language That Tells HTML What To Do. It Is The Easiest Way To Add A Little Extra To Your Website With The Least Work.

What Can You Do With Java Scripts? You Can Customize Your Page, Create Animations ,Interact With Your Visitors And Much More! Here Are Just A Few Of The Things You Can Do.

Create Mouse Rollovers (Make Images Or Text Change)
Add Current Date To A Web Page (See Example Below)
Create Pop Up Windows
Create Navigation Buttons (Like The One Below Our Banner)
Drop Down Menus
Forms

You Just Need To Remember That Some Of The Older Browsers Cannot Read JavaScript's. Also, Some Scripts Are Written For Specific Browsers So You Might Run Into A Compatibility Problem For Your Visitor. When Selecting A Script Your Best Bet Would Be To Make Sure It Is Written For Both Netscape And Internet Explorer 4.0 (This Will Prevent Most Problems)

Installing Your First Java Script.

We Are Going To Assume That:

  1. That You Have Already Started Your Web Site.

  2. That You Are A Little Familiar With HTML.

  3. You Are Using An HTML Editor With WYSIWYG  (What You See Is What You Get) Interface.

Java Clock

This Example Was Found At JavaScripts.com. If You Need More Information You Can Find It Here On Their Web Site.

In HTML View - Copy And Paste The Code Inside The Body Of Your Web Page Where You Would Like It To Be Located. You Must Paste It Exactly As It Is Written (Do Not Break The Line Anywhere).

Tips: Using Your Editor In Normal View, Insert A "1x1"  Table with "0" Border At The Location Where You Would Like The Clock To Be. Then Insert The JavaScript "HTML Code" Inside The Table (You Have To Insert The Code - You Can't Just Paste The Code Inside The Table). If You Make A Mistake Just Delete The Table And Start Over. You Will Not See The Clock Until You Change The Editor To Preview Mode.

All Editors Are Slightly Different So You Should Look At The Help Files And See  Exactly How To Insert Tables And HTML. You Should Be Able To Do It From Your Main Toolbar At Top.

Basically It Works Like This:

Inserting A Table: From The Toolbar Select Tools --> Insert --> Table

Inserting HTML: From The Toolbar Select  Insert --> Advance --> HTML

Once Again,  It Might Not Be Exactly Like This So Consult Your Help Files For More Detailed  Instructions.
